Irving Laker first contacted Jewish Hospice
& Chaplaincy Network seeking care for his
mother after doctors gave her only months to live.
With nurturing and support from JHCN, she
lived two years.

MERLE W. ROSIN, 80, of West
Bloomfield, died July 3, 2007.
He is survived by his beloved
wife, Marcia Rosin; son and daugh-
ter-in-law, Bill and Laura Rosin of
Bloomfield Hills; daughters and
sons-in-law, Cathy and Steve Malette
of Ann Arbor, Jill and Jim Vanko of
Mammoth Lakes, Calif., Jane and
Avery Weisling of West Bloomfield;
brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Glenn
and Sandy Rosin of Bloomfield Hills;
sister and brother-in-law, Audrey and
Dr. Fred Kapentansky of Columbus,
Ohio; grandchildren, Elizabeth,
Emily, Katie, Allison, Joshua, Anna,
Stephanie and Brooke; many other
loving family members and friends.
Interment at Beth El Memorial
Park. Contributions may be made
to the Cancer Research Fund

LESTER H. SCHICK, 62, of Jackson,
died July 4, 2007. He spent three
years in the Peace Corps in the
jungles of Colombia, where he helped
organize co-ops for commerce to
help the economy.
Mr. Schick received a master's
degree in philosophy and taught at
Michigan State University before he
was recruited for the 4H program. He
then became a 4H youth director and
community development director for
MSU and helped inner city children.
He was also involved with Youth
Development Institute, a develop-
ment program to train individuals
to work with children on an interna-
tional basis.
Mr. Schick is survived by his wife,
Sue Schick of Jackson, and her loving
family; brother and sister-in-law, Dr.
David and Anita Schick; twin sister
and brother-in-law, Janet and Stewart
Sinder; nieces and nephews.
Interment at Temple Beth Israel
Cemetery in Jackson. Contributions
may be made to Temple Beth Israel,
801 W. Michigan Avenue, Jackson,
