arjory Jackson Levin,
81, of Birmingham,
died May 25, 2007.
She was a journalist with the
Detroit Free Press and Detroit
News for 13 years and worked as
a freelance writer for periodicals
including McCalls and Ladies
Home Journal.
A member of the American
Society of Journalists and
Authors, she was a past presi-
dent for Detroit Women Writers
and a founding director for the
Michigan Chapter of National
Organization for Women (NOW).
Mrs. Levin was also a founding
director of Michigan Citizens for
Handgun Control.
Mrs. Levin is survived by
sons and a daughter-in-law, Dr.
Robert Levin of Carmel, Calif.,
Jonathan and Nancy Levin of
Bloomfield Hills; a daughter
and son-in-law, Jane and David
Akiba of Jamaica Plain, Mass.;
grandchildren, Emma, Miles and
Nina Levin, Rachel, Samuel,
Isaac and Abigail Akiba; sister
and brother-in-law, Ruth and
Terry Henderson.
She was married for 36 years
to the late Dr. Herbert G. Levin
cherished sister of the late Alan
Jackson; devoted daughter of
the late Pauline and the late
Harry Jackson.
Interment at Beth El Memorial
Park Cemetery. Contributions
