Young Israel Dinner
Young Israel of Oak Park will hold
its annual dinner 5:30 p.m. Sunday,
June 10. Eddie and Paula Katz will be
honored, along with Saul and Jennifer
Rube, who will receive the synagogue's
Young Leadership Award. Katz and
Rube are members of Young Israel's

Board of Directors.
The 5:30 p.m. reception will be fol-
lowed by a 6:30 p.m. sit-down dinner.
The cost is $125 per person. Other

Early Childhood Director
Temple Emanu-El has named Eileen
Brand, longtime director of stu-
dent services of its Early Childhood
Community, to the position of director
on July 1.
Michaelyn Silverman, director of the
program for the past 25 years, is retir-
ing from the full-time position but will
stay on as a part-time consultant. The
program includes a nursery school
(200 students), infant/tot and summer
camp programs.
Brand had been a head teacher in
Emanu-El's program as well as an
educator in its religious school.

Brotherhood Golf Outing
On Monday, June 25, Temple Israel
Brotherhood will present its 13th
annual golf outing at Bay Pointe
Country Club. The event is open to all
players.
The day begins at 7:30 a.m. with
bagels and coffee; golfing will begin at
8 a.m. with a shotgun start.
Cost for the 18-hole scramble is
$100 and includes breakfast, golf and
lunch. Proceeds benefit the brother-
hood's college campus dinners

Student Rabbi Hosted
On June 1-2, Congregation T'chiyah
will host guest student Rabbi Amy
Lowenthal for services, a workshop
and a Torah study session.
Lowenthal is a student at the
Reconstructionist Rabbinical College
in Philadelphia.
She will co-lead 7:45 p.m. Friday
evening services with T'chiyah mem-
bers Jeffrey Ram and Maureen Lyn
Bernard.
Lowenthal's workshop 10 a.m.
Saturday morning will focus on sing-
ing and service leading. She will
engage participants in Torah study fol-
lowing the workshop.
The community is invited. The con-
gregation is located at the David and
Miriam Mondry Building, 15000 W. 10
Mile Road, Oak Park.
