outdoor events, they can take note of some changes in a few fairs, more
specifically their dates and locations. Returning visitors also will be able
to track some returning Jewish artists and new Judaica as they browse various
booths set up along parks and streets.

While Huntington Woods undergoes some construction work around the Lutheran
church where Art in the Woods usually is located, the event has been temporarily
relocated to property across the street from Berkley High School. Warren's Art in
the Park has been moved to City Park Square on Van Dyke and 12 Mile.
With this listing coming so early in the season, fair-goers are advised to check
the particulars before setting out for a specific event.

usan and Gary Bernett,
a wife-husband sculpting
team based in Montreal,
show biblical scenes carved into
granite and marble at Fine Art at
the Village, running May 19-20 in
Rochester Hills.
The couple, who work with highly-
polished surfaces, etch away the
background to present religious sub-
jects as well as scenes from nature
and everyday life.

when we come to Michigan," says

van to go to art shows around the
country. "Each piece gives careful attention to details."
Bernett, married for 13 years, learned his craft through family members, who
were artists and monument makers. His wife also learned early artistic skills
from family members, a grandmother specializing in portrait painting and a
mother working with metals and ceramics.
"My focus this year is on women in the Bible," says Susan Bernett, 47, who
studied with Canadian artist Stanley Lewis and attended the Hebrew University
of Jerusalem, McGill University in Canada and the Putney School of Art and
Design in England. "The religious work comes from my heart."
The Bernetts, who often travel to art shows with their four children, point out
that their projects can be displayed indoors or outdoors because of the strength
of their materials. They recently began to work with sculptural representations of
corporate logos.
"We have to do a lot of the work in studios outside our home," Gary Bernett
explains. "That's because of the dust that results from our processes."
