Kadima Support Group
A new program providing family
advocacy and support has been
established by Kadima and Jewish
Family Service and funded by the
local Jewish amd.
Kadima is conducting a family
advocacy/support group for fami-
lies of children with behavioral
issues related to ADHD, Aspergers
disorder, oppositional defiant dis-
order, conduct disorder, bipolar
disorder and more. The group
meets at the Kadima Center, 15999
W. 12 Mile Rd., Southfield. Led
by licensed therapists, the group
meets bi-weekly and gives parents
coping skills, support and how to
advocate for appropriate services.

The Jewish Genealogy Society
of Michigan will present Sol
Sylvan 1 p.m. Sunday, April 29, at
the Zekelman Family Holocaust
Memorial Center, Farmington Hills.
Sylvan will speak on "The Nine
Most Important Words You Need to
Know Before Making An Ancestral
Visit to Eastern Europe".
He will give practical suggestions
on hiring guides and translators,
doing advance preparation, making
travel arrangements and dealing
with money, food, and appropriate
clothing. He will show a video of
his 2004 visit.

Financial Aid
JVS will host a parent informational
meeting of the Jewish Educational
Loan Service (JELS) and additional
financial aid options for college
students, 7 p.m., Wednesday, April
25, at JVS, 29699 Southfield Road,
Southfield.
Marvin Berman, JELS coordina-
tor, will discuss how to apply for an
interest-free loan offered through
JELS. He will also address state,
federal, institutional and private
sources.
Although the meeting will be
directed toward parents, students
are welcome. To register or for

JELS is open to Metro Detroit
Jewish residents and is adminis-
tered through JVS, Hebrew Free
Loan Association and Jewish
