Borscht Bash!
Rabbi Arnie Sleutelberg and Paul Lefkowitz re-enact the famous Abbott
and Costello "Who's on First?" comedy routine at Congregation Shir
Tikvah's Borscht Belt Bash: A New York State of Mind. The fundrais-
ing/social evening relived the heyday of New York's Catskill Moutntains
resorts and Lower East Side with Yiddish radio comedy routines and
commercials, klezmer and popular music, deli food and a silent auc-
tion. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Troy synagogue and Alyn
Hospital for children with physical disabilities in Israel.

Purim at Congregation Beth Shalom in Oak Park took on costumed pro-
portions at a holiday carnival on March 4.
CELIA BABCOCK,
84, of West Bloomfield,
died March 2, 2007. She
was a member of Adat
Shalom Synagogue.
Mrs. Babcock is sur-
vived by her son and
daughter-in-law, Howard
Babcock
and Cindy Babcock of
Royal Oak; grandchil-
dren, Noah and Dori Babcock and Adam
Babcock; sister and brother-in-law, Ethel
and Harold Bobroff of Florida; brother-
in-law and sister-in-law, Sam and Ilene
Babcock; nieces and nephews. She was the
beloved wife of the late Louis Babcock;
devoted sister of the late Dave Reznick; lov-
ing sister-in-law of the late Edith Goodman,
the late Ida Babcock, the late Dr. Ruben
Babcock and the late Florence Babcock.
Interment at Adat Shalom Memorial

EVA BARTOS, 78, of Farmington Hills,
died March 2, 2007.
She is survived by her daughter and son-
in-law, Kathy Bartos and Robert Rovinsky
of Birmingham; sister and brother-in-law,
Ibi and Adi Mann of Livonia; grand-
children, Zachary, Elliott; loving nieces,
nephews, cousins and friends. She was the
beloved wife of the late Miklos Bartos.

ANNE BRENT, 95, of Southfield, died
March 1, 2007. She was previously a dental
hygienist and then became, along with her
husband, co-founder of Brent Hospital.
Mrs. Brent is survived by sons and
daughters-in-law, Dr. Robert and Dasi
Brent and Dr. Burton and Belinda Brent;
grandchildren, Carol and Dr. Edward Levin,
Thomas and Becky Brent, David and Renee
Brent, Dr. Greg and Amy Brent; nine great-
grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law,
Marion and Les Goldfischer. She was the
beloved wife of the late Dr. Morris S. Brent.
Interment at Beth Yehudah Cemetery.

JEROME "JERRY" FINE, 87, of
Southfield, died Feb. 25, 2007.
He is survived by his daughter and
son-in-law, Julie and Steven Friedmann
of Snohomish, Wash.; brothers and sister-
in-law, William and Audrey Fine of West
Bloomfield, Norton Fine of Southfield;
sister, Beatrice "Bea" Freud of Southfield;
grandchildren, Gary Friedmann, Michael
Friedmann; many loving nieces, nephews,
cousins. He was the beloved husband of
the late Eleanor Fine.

HYMAN GITTLEMAN, 102, of
Southfield, died March 2, 2007.
He is survived by his son and daughter-

Park; daughter and son-in-law, Toby and
Dr. Roy Arons of Bloomfield Hills; grand-
children, Steven (Rocksanda) Gittleman,
David (Theresa) Gittleman, Emily (James)
Robson, Donna (Geoffrey Wyckoff) Arons,
Wendy (Michael Perdriel) Arons, William
(Lynette) Arons and Eric Arons; great-
grandchildren, Adam, Christopher, Devin,
Gabrielle, Jeremiah, Robert, Alexander,
Ruth, Benjamin, Avalon, Leda, Elijah and
Nicolas. He was the beloved husband of
the late Bessie Gittleman.
Interment was held at the Adat Shalom

ESTHER GRAFF, 95, of Southfield, died
March 1, 2007.
She is survived by her sons and daugh-
ters-in-law, Jerry and Margie Graff of

grandchildren, Michael Graff, Jeffrey
(Marci) Graff, Shari (Noah) Kotch, Alan
Graff (fiancé Cheryl Lerchin); great-grand-

She was the beloved wife of the late Harold

Yummentashen!
On March 2, Prentis and Teitel Jewish Apartments residents in Oak Park
gathered to make hamentashen for Purim. Twenty Jewish Apartments &
Services residents rolled up their sleeves and donned their kitchen attire
to work with Scott Young, dining services director for Morrison Senior
Dining. They made 350 portions for serving on Shabbat. From left are
