one of the Rwandan men he had
saved, the man rose and said that
to him, Rusesabagina was "God's
assistant!'
How can we not be inspired by
such heroism and courage? We
know that hatred and mass murder
have continued to flourish in much
of the world with not enough anger
and little resistance. But hearing
this inspiring man who showed
such bravery has brought hope that
even the ordinary among us has
potential to defeat such hatred.
Today, I have the same hope as
this "ordinary man" who ends his
book, "Wherever the killing sea-
son should next begin and people
should become strangers to their
neighbors and themselves, my hope
is that there will still be those ordi-
nary men who say a quiet no and
open the rooms upstairs."

UNRWA (Paragraph 7) indicates
only two responsibilities: to work with
Arab governments to provide jobs for
the refugees and to help Arab govern-
ments end (not perpetuate) interna-
tional assistance. It has been doing the
exact opposite.
The "Pale.stinian Right of Return" (to
Israel) — their basic, non-negotiable
demand — encourages the refusal
to accept Israel's existence and fuels
Palestinian terrorism. It reinforces
Palestinians' belief in their victimiza-
tion, promotes a culture of denial and
self-destruction and sabotages any
hope for change. UNRWA facilitates this
mess.
