Calls Reap Gifts
Nearly150 volunteers gathered

recently for Federation's Super
Sunday fundraising phonathon to
support social
and humanitar-
ian needs in the
Detroit Jewish
community and
in Israel.
Nearly 3,000
Jewish house-
Jordan Glass
holds were called,
and 657 new
pledges and gifts were secured,
for a total of $318,000 toward
Federation's goal of $48 million for
the fiscal year.
The goal
includes $33 mil-
lion to support
social service
and educational
programs of
19 local agen-
cies as well as
Baylee
overseas needs,
Shulman
and another $15
million designated to rebuilding
lives in Israel through the Marvin
and Betty Danto Family Israel
Emergency Challenge Fund.
This year's Super Sunday was
supported by Daimler-Chrysler. Co-
chairs of Super Sunday were Jordan
Glass, Jodi Goodman of West
Bloomfield, Michael Hauser of Oak
Park, Baylee Shulman and Sheldon
Stern of Franklin. Co-chairs of
Federation's 2007 overall fundrais-
ing effort are Nancy Grosfeld and
Lawrence Lax.

Israel Mission Planned
B'nai B'rith's Israel Family Mission
June 19-July 1, is filling a second
bus. Current and potential par-
ticipants are invited to a dinner at
the home of mission coordinators
Michelle and Mark Soltz 5 p.m.

Akiva Open House
Yeshivat Akiva hosts an open
house Thursday, Feb. 8. Prospective
parents and students and current
Akiva families may visit between 9
a.m. and 3 p.m. to observe Judaic
and secular classes from early
childhood through 12th grade.
Akiva is a college preparatory,
dual curriculum Zionist day school
at 21100 W. 12 Mile, Southfield.
