Helping The Homeless
Hundreds of members of
Congregation Beth Shalom
volunteered in the Oak Park
synagogue's annual week of host-
ing several dozen guests from the
South Oakland Shelter.
The guests slept, ate and were
entertained at the synagogue and
were driven to and from their
jobs. They joined congregants for
Kabbalat Shabbat services and
dinner on Israel Night.
Above, preparing meals in
the Beth Shalom kitchen, are
event chair Mandy Friedenberg
of Berkley, Julie Grodin of
Huntington Woods and Cookie Chimoff of Oak Park. On the left is Sara
Berlin, 10, daughter of Debbie Langer and Don Berlin of Oak Park, serv-
ing vegetables to guests.
