the son of Harriet
Sofferin
Sofferin and the
late Fred Sofferin,
brother of Jeremy and the late Kevin.
Ben is the dear grandson of the late
Joseph and Bella Frank and the late
Muriel and Arthur Sofferin.
Ben is a student at Norup
International School in Oak Park.
For his mitzvah project, he worked
at Yad Ezra in Berkley.

called to the Torah
as a bat mitzvah
at Minchah
and Havdalah
services on
Starr
Saturday, Nov. 25,
at Congregation
Beth Shalom. She is the daugh-
ter of Mara and Alan Starr and the
older sister of Sarah and Dayna.
Ariel is the granddaughter of Adele
W. Staller of Southfield and Rita
Starr of Farmington Hills. Her very
proud great-grandmother is Martha
Burnstein of Southfield. Ariel is also
the granddaughter of the late Avery
Gerald Staller and the late Joseph
Samuel Starr.

Ariel is a student at the Norup
International School in Oak Park.
Her most meaningful mitzvah
project involved collecting supplies
and financial contributions as well
as spending time volunteering for
Almost Home, a nonprofit organi-
zation dedicated to finding loving
homes for homeless animals.

HAVEN, whose mission is to eliminate
domestic violence and sexual assault
through treatment and prevention ser-
vices, will hold a holiday Gift Giveaway.
HAVEN will collect new, unwrapped
contributions on Dec. 18-20. On Dec.
21, clients will be able to go "shopping"
at no charge. Wrapping materials will
be provided.

ancy and Dennis Liefer of
Farmington Hills are delighted
to announce the engagement
of their son Michael Todd Liefer to Jessica
Lynn Weiner, daughter of Dyane and Dr.
Glenn Weiner of Buffalo Grove, Ill.
Jessica earned her undergraduate degree
from the University of Wisconsin-Madison
and a juris doctor from the Chicago-Kent
College of Law. She is a litigation attorney
at Neye, Meyer, Kreuzer, Esp & Cores in
Chicago.
Michael graduated from Michigan State
University with a bachelor of arts degree in
marketing. He is the vice president of acquisitions for Banner Properties, a com-
mercial real estate company, in Northbrook, Ill.
A May wedding is planned in Chicago.
