Happy Holidays!

MSU Pride

Yael Aronoff was introduced in true
Michigan State style amid lots of green
and white at an open house Sunday at
the home of Michael and Elaine Serling
in Orchard Lake. Aronoff joins the MSU
Jewish Studies Program as Michael and
Elaine Serling and Friends Israel Studies
Chair, only the sixth such position at
universities in this country. The profes-
sorship is the first endowed chair at James
Madison College.
"To me, this is another link from gen-
eration to generation, dor l'dor; and it
gives me great happiness to know that we
helped this happen, Michael and I," said
Elaine Serling.
Aronoff was born in the U.S., but raised
in Israel. Her specialty is Israeli politics;
she is working on a book about the last
six Israeli prime ministers titles When
Hardliners Opt For Peace. Her husband,
Eric, will teach English and American
Studies at MSU. The couple lives in Mason
with their two young children.
Aronoff is the fourth core position in
the Jewish Studies Program.
