LENARD A. GORAN, 87, of St.
Louis, Mo., died May 13, 2006. He
retired after many years as a mechani-
cal engineer and executive with the
McDonell-Douglas Corporation.
Mr. Goran is survived by his beloved
wife, Florence Goran; children,
Michael and Fran Goran of Bloomfield
Hills, Dr. David and Deena Goran of St.
Louis; grandchildren, Julie Goran, Jeff
and Kristin Goran. He was the brother
and brother-in-law of the late Robert
and the late Gertrude Goran.

CAROLINE EINSTEIN GREEN,
91, of Palm Springs, Calif., formerly of
Detroit, died May 15, 2006. She was a
retired city of Detroit teacher.

Ervin Greenbaum; dear sister-in-law
of the late Earl Gilman and the late
Doris Greenbaum.

DR. ALAN HOROWITZ, 59, of
West Bloomfield, died May 17, 2006.
He was a periodontist with offices
in Farmington Hills and Dearborn.
Dr. Horowitz was a graduate of the
University of Pennsylvania and the
University of Pennsylvania Dental
School and was a professor of periodon-
tics at the University of Detroit School
of Dentistry. He was also the president
of the Detroit Maccabi Games and a

member of the Alpha Omega Dental
Fraternity.
Dr. Horowitz is survived by his wife,
Deborah Shayne Horowitz; sons and
daughters-in-law, Dr. Andrew and Amy
Horowitz of New York, Jeffrey and Jaimie

GISELE LAUFFER, 96, of Ann Arbor,
died May 18, 2006. She lived in Belgium
from age 13 until she was 30, when she
received warnings of Krystalnacht. She
taught French and Polish for Berlitz
in Chicago and was also a translator •
for the Cook County Courts in Illinois.
Mrs. Lauffer also became a guide of
the California Wine Museum in San
Francisco and was an active member
of Hadassh in Laguna Hills. She wrote
book reviews, essays and poetry. She
