Dr. Kathleen Murphy
understands how to
communicate the language of hope. She traded her career
as an internist for one in palliative care, which incorporates
the spiritual, psychological and emotional elements of pain
into medical treatment plans.
A palliative care specialist with Beaumont Hospital and
Henry Ford Health Systems, Dr. Murphy works daily with
terminally ill patients and collaborates with JHCN for
spiritual guidance for her Jewish patients.

Grand Rapids, died April 17, 2006.
During her middle years, she worked
at different pharmacies, mostly at
Cunninghams. She also enjoyed tak-
ing classes that taught her how to give
makeovers. She also liked to sew and
often made doll clothes for her daugh-
ters and baby
layettes for her
grandchildren.
She had been
active with the
PTA When her
children were in
school. Also she
worked with the
Salicoff
Civil Defense
League and the
Torch Drive. She was a member of B'nai
B'rith and Hadassah.
Mrs. Salicoff is survived by daugh-
ters and sons-in-law, Barbara and
Gary Michael of Israel, Sheila and Dr.
Jeffrey Frank of Grand Rapids, Dianna
and David Drinkard of St. Louis,
Mo.; grandchildren, Larry and Ann
Michael, Marvin Michael, Melinda
Frank, Amy and Hal Ostrow, Jody and
Igor Rozenblit; great-grandchildren,
Paul, Christopher, Ryan and Danielle
Michael; brother, Philip Dworin of
Southfield. She was the beloved wife for
66 years of the late Nathan Salicoff.
