Celebrate Passover with the

Reform congregations will
come together as a com-
munity'at Temple Emanu-El
in Oak Park Friday, April 14,
for the annual Isaac Mayer
Wise Shabbat. Guest scholar is
Jeffrey Haus, Ph. D., assistant
professor of history and reli-
gion at Kalamazoo College.
In keeping with the com-
munity spirit of the evening,
the 8 p.m. service will be
preceded by a Passover
potluck dinner at 6:30 p.m.
The Metropolitan Detroit
Federation of Reform
Synagogues (MetFed) will
provide Kosher-for-Passover
chicken and beverages;
attendees are asked to bring
a Passover non-dairy side
dish in a disposable container.
There is no charge for the
meal.

Each year, MetFed sponsors
a community service on the
Friday during Passover. Rabbi
Joseph Klein will lead the ser-
vice at this year's gathering.
Haus will speak on "What's
the Use of Jewish Studies?"
He received his Ph.D. in
modern Jewish history from
Brandeis University in 1997.
He has taught and lectured
on Judaism and Jewish his-
tory, and has authored several
articles exploring the history
of modern French.

when MetFed was founded to
promote the advancement of
Reform Judaism and to foster
community togetherness and
inter-congregational harmony.
