He was emeritus professor of art his-
tory at Wayne State University, where
he taught for 40 years. He edited the
Bulletin of the Asia Institute for many
years and served with distinction for
10 years as director of the Wayne State
University Press. He is the author of
The Sacred Portal, Reading and Writing
in the Arts, and The Arts of Central
and Western Asia, as well as over 100
articles on the history of art in schol-
arly journals.
He edited The Discovery of Dura
Europos and was scheduled to lecture
on the subject of Dura Europos in May
at Wayne State University.
Mr. Goldman is survived by his
beloved wife of 61 years, Norma
Goldman; son and daughter-in-
law, Mark and Carolyn Goldman of
Fountain Hills; grandchildren, Liam
and Grace Goldman; devoted sister,
Miriam Canvasser. He was the brother
of the late Bernice Miro.
Graveside services were held in
Mt. Sinai Cemetery in Phoenix.

ESTHER ROSENTHAL
GREENHOUSE, 92, of West
Bloomfield, died March 21, 2006. A
lifelong, active member and past offi-
cer of Women's American ORT and
Hadassah, she was also a translator
for Russian immigrants through Sinai
Hospital.
She is survived by her son and
daughter-in-law, Stuart and Margie
Rosenthal of Houston, Texas;
daughters, Marlynn Levin of West
Bloomfield, Ilyse Atema of Newton
Centre, Mass.; grandchildren, Neal
Levin, Mark Levin and Jennifer
Flackett, Amy Levin, Beth Rosenthal,
Suzy and Greg Kopel,

HARRY D. GROSSMANN, 87, of
Berkley, died March 24, 2006.
He is survived by his sons and
daughter-in-law, Dennis and Rose
Grossmann of Berkley; grandchil-
dren, Michelle and Jeff Osborne,
Janna Grossmann, Janie Grossmann;
great-grandchildren, Anna, Elizabeth,
Landon, Grant. He was the beloved
husband of the late Esther Grossmann;
loving father of the late Randy
Grossmann.

SIDNEY "BIG SID" ISRAEL, of
Bloomfield, died March 25, 2006. An
executive as a food service contractor,
he owned Great Lakes Hotel Supply
Company . He was a member of Marco
Island Temple.

ing family members and friends. She
was the beloved daughter of the late
