ewish Home & Aging Services
staff and volunteers walked the
runway in contemporary and vin-
tage bridal clothing at a special
bridal show for Oakland County
residents of Fleischman
Residence, the Brown Adult Day
Care Center and their neighbors
at Jewish Apartments and Services this winter.
"This show is an opportunity for our older
adults to experience the pleasure and excite-
ment of a wedding, without the difficulties of
planning or, for some of our distance-limited
people, even attending one,' said Janet Antin,
Fleischman program director and coordinator
of the event.

Members of the "bridal party" included
flower girls, ring bearers, mothers-of-the-bride
and escorts. Gowns were loaned from the
Bridal Canopy, a nonprofit organization that
assists Jewish brides with bridal attire.
Blumberg Plaza was the site of the nuptials,
including a chuppah (wedding canopy) lent by
administrator Barbra Giles. Kosher desserts,
flowers and music added to the authenticity
"The only thing missing was a glass to be
broken by the groom',' said Fleischman resi-
dent Helen Bluestone. ❑
