ROBERT ALPERT, 84, of California, for-
merly of Detroit, died Feb. 10, 2006.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years,
Bettie Alpert; daughters and sons-in-law,
Susan and Roberto Rossinove of Arizona,
Dale and Jerry Rubin of Royal Oak; son
and daughter-in-law, Michael and Vivian
Alpert of California; grandchildren, Nicole
and Adam DeKavallas, Ryan and Marina
Lenter, Brandon Rubin, Ariella Kaufman;
great-grandson, Blake DeKavallas; sister,
Pat Stein of New York.
Interment in California. Contributions
may be made to the Braille Institute, 741
North Vermont Avenue, Los Angeles, CA

EDWARD CARDIFF, 85, of West
Bloomfield, died Feb. 6, 2006. He was a fur-
niture manufacturers
representative. He was a
member of
Congregation B'nai
Moshe. He was president
and chairman of the
Home Furnishings
Representatives of
Michigan and wrote a
Cardiff
book on sales for use in
the furniture industry. He was also a deco-
rated Navy pilot and a lieutenant in World
War II. He converted to Judaism at age 80.
Mr. Cardiff is survived by his wife,
Marion Cardiff; daughters and son-in-law,
Ann and William Smith of California,
Debra Wolson of Waterford; sons and
daughter-in-law, Gray and Linda Cardiff of
California, Larry Goldenberg of Illinois;
grandchildren, Jason and Shannon
Swenson, Alec Swenion, Myles and
Lindsay Cardiff, Heather Behle, Erin and
Samuel Wolson.
Interment at Oakview Cemetery.

Hospice and Chaplaincy Network or to a
charity of one's choice. Arrangements by

JEAN COHEN, 84, formerly of Battle
Creek of Pittsburgh, Pa., died Feb. 5, 2006.
She was the founder and director of
Pegasus, a local teen drop-in center. She
was also active in the local Jewish com-
munity.
When she originally came to Battle
Creek in the 1940s, she and her husband
and brother opened Battle Creek Iron and
Metal. She and her husband were active
with Temple Beth El; where she was reli-
gious school director, gift shop coordina-
tor and was involved with sisterhood.
In 1969, Mrs. Cohen held a board posi-
tion at Teens Inc.,'a center for battle Creek.
youth. Her work with youth was recog-
nized in 1974 with the George Award from
the Battle Creek Errquirer and News.
Mrs. Cohen is survived by her family,
Barbara and Eric Udren of Pittsburgh,
Hedy Cohen of Evanston, Ill.; grandchil-
dren, Jonathan (Dena) and Jenna.
A memorial service was held at Battle
Creek's Temple Beth El. Interment at
Memorial Park Cemetery. Contributions
may be made to Bardwell Scholarship
Fund, Ehlert Finance Group, 1034 Schelter,
Lincolnshire, IL 60069. Arrangements by
Shaw Funeral Home in Battle Creek.

Davis

ALVIN DAVIS, 95, of
Farmington Hills, died
Feb. 9, 2006. For over
40 years, he was a vice
president of finance at
Grace Hospital. He was
also a member of
B'nai B'rith and a for-
mer member of

Temple Israel.
Mr. Davis is survived by his daughter
and son-in-law, Anita Novak and Thad
Gutowski of West Bloomfield; son and
daughter-in-law, Stuart and Nancy Davis;
grandchildren, David Novak, Steven and
Rebecca Novak, Tracey and Greg Sachs;
great-grandchildren, Sophia, Nicholas and
Elizabeth and Bobby Novak, Ally Sachs,
Sarah Sachs. He was the beloved husband
of the late Toby Davis; dear father-in-law

ANNE S. GREEN, 86, of Berkley, died Feb.
8, 2006.
