Members of the Michigan Jewish War
Veterans and Ladies Auxiliary will spon-
sor the annual holiday party for patients
at the Veterans Administration Hospital
in Battle Creek on Dec. 25.
The bus will leave from the JWV office
parking lot, 24901 Northwestern Highway,

NCJW Gives Aid
National Council of Jewish Women
Greater Detroit Section volunteers
returned to the Ronald McDonald House
to provide a meal for the families who
stay with their children in.Children's
Hospital of Michigan in Detroit.
Stays range from a few days to many
days. Although there are kitchen facili-
ties and families can make their own
meals, the focus is with the child in the
hospital.
NCJW volunteers have provided this •
service for the past few years, bringing
lunch and dinner. The next visit will be
this spring. To volunteer, call NCJW,

Drop-In Support
Temple Israel's Robert Sosnick Family
Life Center can help dealing with the loss
of a loved one. A drop-in bereavement
support group is facilitated by Simona
Seiderman.
Upcoming support group sessions are
scheduled for Wednesdays, Jan. 11, 25,
from 10-11 a.m. at Temple Israel.
Sessions continue on a bi-weekly basis
through May and are open to the com-
munity free of charge.

Research Grant
The American Dysautonomia Institute, a
national nonprofit charity with he a • dquar-
ters in Farmington Hills, has approved a
$4,000 research grant to the Mayo Clinic.
Dysautonomia is an autonomic nerv-
ous system disorder that affects one in
300 Americans. One type of the disease
affects only Ashkenazi Jews. Another form
has already stricken 1 million Americans,
including Ashkenazi and Sephardic Jews.
The ASDI was co-founded in 2004 by
Michigan Jewish eduator Ben Chinitz,
who died this year.
