NCJW Gives Aid National Council of Jewish Women Greater Detroit Section volunteers returned to the Ronald McDonald House to provide a meal for the families who stay with their children in.Children's Hospital of Michigan in Detroit. Stays range from a few days to many days. Although there are kitchen facili- ties and families can make their own meals, the focus is with the child in the hospital. NCJW volunteers have provided this • service for the past few years, bringing lunch and dinner. The next visit will be this spring. To volunteer, call NCJW, (248) 355-3300. Drop-In Support Temple Israel's Robert Sosnick Family Life Center can help dealing with the loss of a loved one. A drop-in bereavement support group is facilitated by Simona Seiderman. Research Grant The American Dysautonomia Institute, a national nonprofit charity with he a • dquar- ters in Farmington Hills, has approved a $4,000 research grant to the Mayo Clinic. Dysautonomia is an autonomic nerv- ous system disorder that affects one in 300 Americans. One type of the disease affects only Ashkenazi Jews. Another form has already stricken 1 million Americans, including Ashkenazi and Sephardic Jews. The ASDI was co-founded in 2004 by Michigan Jewish eduator Ben Chinitz, who died this year.
