Jason Levy of Global Office
Solutions, Novi, is being hon-
ored for the second consecutive
time as Associate of the Year. He
is the descendent of seven gen-
erations of builders. His grand-
father, Mark Levy, was one of
the founders of the BIA.
In 2004, Jason Levy chaired
the Associates Forum and was
on BIA's board of directors. This
year, he was vice chair of the
Associates Forum and a mem-
ber of the membership recruit-
ment and retention committees.
In 2006, he will again chair the
Associates Forum.
Global Office Solutions func-
tions as a single-source supplier
for builders. The company was
founded by Jason's brother,
Reuben. They have grown the
company at a rate of 50 percent
for six consecutive years. As an
account executive for Global,
Jason Levy manages the design,
layout and furnishing of busi-
ness, home and sales centers.
Third-generation builder
Richard Kligman is the BIA's
Young Builder of the Year. states
that "building is in my blood."
His Russian-born grandfather
was a finish carpenter after
coming to Detroit in the 1920s,
and his father, Al, was the BIA's
Builder of the Year in 2003.
Richard graduated from
Michigan State University's
building construction manage-
ment program in 1992. He is
president of Superb Homes,
which is building custom
homes in the $600,000-$2 mil-
lion range in Stonewater subdi-
vision in Northville.
Richard and Al Kligman have
co-chaired a BIA committee
seeking ways to address the
shortage of skilled trades.
Richard has worked with the
Oak Park School District to
bring middle school students to
building sites for tours in an
effort to share the opportunities
available.
In addition to serving on the
BIA board of directors, Richard
Kligman is a trustee for NAHB's
"Builders 20 " club, which
assembles builders from
around the nation to share
ideas and experiences.

"The administrative burden of
HR requires an inordinate amount
of time and paperwork, creating a
need among businesses Ivho can't
afford a staff to keep up — let alone
recruit and screen new employees:'
said Schwartz."Our HR Solutions
Group guides companies to cost-
effective alternatives. Outsourcing
various HR functions can cut ben-
efit costs by more than 10 percent
and save valuable staff time.
"For example, the savings can
help offset rising health care costs"
In a recent study by Hewitt
Associates, an HR consulting firm
in Lincolnshire, Ill., 94 percent of
companies surveyed outsourced at
least one HR function.
One of the companies taking
advantage of the new HR Solutions
Group is Car Pack Manufacturing
Co. of Troy, a 56-year-old firm with
23 employees. Car Pack makes
products for the automotive indus-
try: fasteners, nuts, bolts, washers,
plastic clips and weather-stripping.
"We don't have a human
resources staff, so we're relying on
HR Solutions to take care of our
HR needs:' explained Jerry Levine
of Birmingham, vice president of
Car Pack.
"When we first met with Teresa
Schwartz and her colleagues, she
noticed right away that we weren't
providing certain benefits for our
employees, so we took care of that
right away',' said Levine, who also
is a JVS board member. "We're
relying on their expertise in these
matters."
JVS officials also view the new
subsidiary as an additional source
of revenue for the organization. It
employs 350 people and relies on
support from the Jewish
Federation of Metropolitan
Detroit, the Jewish Fund, Detroit
Workforce Development
Department, the Oakland and
Macomb County Community
Mental Health Authority, U.S. con-
tracts, general fees and grants for
vocational rehabilitation services
and United Way Community
Services.
"With a struggling Michigan
economy and reductions in grants
and donations to JVS in general,
we're always looking for additional
sources of income," said
Schwartz. E
