obyn and Mark "Cody"
Coden wanted to make
sure that the four-legged
victims of Hurricane Katrina
were not counted among the
homeless this winter, so they
organized "Pets `n Pepperoni:' a
fund-raiser held on Nov. 16 at
Buddy's Pizza in Farmington
Hills to benefit the Michigan
Animal Adoption Network
(MAAN).
Cody is co-owner of Camp
Tanuga in Kalkaska and a
founder of the Bear Hug
Foundation. Robyn is a partner
in Pronto Promotions, an adver-
tising specialties company in
Southfield, with her mother and
stepfather, Judy and Jim
Grossman, who live in
Farmington Hills.
The Codens live with their two
dogs, Floyd, who Robyn got from
GRROM (Golden Retriever

1046040

Rescue of Michigan), and
Dakota, a Siberian husky. They
are in the process of adopting an
abandoned baby girl from China.

Robyn, how did you get the idea
for "Pets 'n Pepperoni"?

"Cody and I were watching news
footage of lost and abandoned
dogs after Hurricane Katrina.
The dogs were wandering aim-
lessly through the streets; one
was actually swimming in toxic,
contaminated water. I just sat
there weeping, looking at my
own two dogs that were so well
cared for and comfortable. The
next morning, I decided to throw
a fund-raiser for MAAN
(Michigan Animal Adoption
Network). They sent several res-
cue groups to New Orleans to
bring back cats and dogs, nurse
them back to health, and put
them up for adoption."
