Marissa Ann Sonnenschein
was called to the Torah as a bat
mitzvah on Saturday, Nov. 5, at
Temple Shir Shalom. Sharing
in the joy of this occasion were
her parents, Gail Ernstein and

grandmothers

Sonnenschein
of Dayton and
Rosa Ernstein;
great-aunt and
Sonnenschein
uncle, Joyce
and Robert
Cantor of Cincinnati. Marissa
attends Orchard Lake Middle
School in West Bloomfield. Her
most meaningful mitzvah expe-
rience is playing piano concerts
for assisted living residents.

Rachael Elizabeth Vettese,
daughter of Marci Bloom-
Vettese and Thomas Vettese and
sister of
Stephanie, will
be called to
the bimah to
celebrate her
bat mitzvah
Saturday, Nov.
12, at Temple
Israel. Her
Vettese
excited grand-
parents are Freda Bloom, Diane
and Stuart Bloom and Julie and
Jim Vettese.
Rachael is a student at West
Hills Middle School in
Bloomfield Hills. Out of many
mitzvah projects, she felt her
most meaningful was growing
her hair and cutting it to donate
to Locks for Love.

Andrew Morris Weiner will be
called to the Torah as a bar
mitzvah on Saturday, Nov. 12, at
Temple Kol
Ami in West
Bloomfield. He
is the son of
Judy and
Mitchell
Weiner and
brother of
Lauren and
Weiner
Mallory. He
will also share this special day
with his grandparents Marcia
and Lester Weiner of Royal Oak
and North Lauderdale, Fla., and
Richard Williams and Carol
Cooper of Bloomfield Hills.

Andrew is also the grandson of
the late Marian Ruskin
Williams and the late Anne
Loewy Williams and brother of
the late Edan William Weiner.
Andrew is an eighth-grader
at Bloomfield Hills Middle
School. His favorite mitzvah
project was serving as a coun-
selor for Safety Town.

Matthew Ryan Zall of the
Woodlands, Texas, formerly of
West Bloomfield, will celebrate
his bar mitzvah Saturday, Nov.
12, at Congregation Beth
Shalom in the
Woodlands. He
is the son of
Mario and
Kevin Zall and
older brother
of Michael,
Kyle and Kory.
His proud
Zall
grandparents
are Ann Gallison and Rod
Burke of Bloomfield Hills and
Carol and Raymond Zall of
Daytona Beach, Fla. He is also
the grandchild of the late
Harvey Gallison.
For his mitzvah project,
Matthew organized a food drive
for the Interfaith of the
Woodlands Food Pantry.
