Meredith Milstein graduated
from West Bloomfield High
School and is now attending
Brandeis University in Waltham,
Mass. She ran track for two years
at West Bloomfield, helping the
4x400 relay achieve a state quali-
fying time. As a senior, she cap-
tained both the volleyball and
soccer teams, and earned All-
League honors in both sports.
Former Detroit Lion Robert
Porcher will be honored at the
dinner for his community serv-
ice and business activities.
Porcher was a defensive end with
the Lions for 13 seasons before
retiring last year.
The Michigan Jewish Sports
Foundation was founded by
Alvin Foon and five friends in
1984 to honor Jewish sports fig-
ures who have distinguished
themselves in Michigan.
Significant funds are raised
annually to support charitable
efforts, including the Hank
Greenberg Oncology Fund at the
Detroit Medical Center.
MJSF projects include the
Hank Greenberg Memorial Golf
Invitational; the annual Fame
Games at the Jewish Community
Center in West Bloomfield for
developmentally disabled per-
sons; and camp and college
scholarships.
The MJSF is housed at the
West Bloomfield JCC, where the
Hall of Fame plaques are on per-
manent display. 0

The Michigan Jewish Sports
Hall of Fame Induction
Dinner will be held Monday,
Nov. 7, at Adat Shalom
Synagogue. The cocktail hour
and sports memorabilia silent
auction begin at 6 p.m. The
induction ceremony and din-
ner begins at 7:30. Tickets for
adults are $150. For informa-
