mong the regulars at the
Fitness Club at the Jewish
Community Center in
West Bloomfield is Dr. Arthur
Victor. The 98-year-old
Southfield resident drives him-
self to the JCC nearly every day,
where he can do more stomach
crunches than many men one-
third his age.
Dr. Victor, who graduated from
the University of Michigan
Dental School in 1929, special-
ized in restorative dentistry as a
prosthodontist. Although one of
his four sons has taken over the
Roseville practice, Dr. Victor has
maintained his license and still
sees the occasional patients who
ask for him by name.

"I guess I was just lucky. I don't
wear glasses; I have excellent
hearing.
"It doesn't just happen. I don't
eat too much, and I think exer-
cise has done much to keep me
supple.
"I started playing handball at
the Jewish Community Center on
Woodward 45-50 years ago. Then
I switched to squash, then to ten-
nis. If you're active, you want to
do all the sports.
"Right now, I work on the
bench. I come every day, though
I miss once in a while.
"I think I'm the oldest dentist
in Michigan who still has his
license. My son took over the
practice, but my name is still on
the don"

"I have four sons; two are den-
tists, and one is a physician.
Three live here — the one son in
Connecticut is retired. I have
seven grandchildren.
