JERRY N. BALAN, 72, of
Scottsdale, Ariz., formerly of
West Bloomfield, died Oct. 7,
2005. For many years he was
chief financial officer of
Paragon Steel Corporation in
Detroit and in 1985 was a
founding partner in BBK
Limited, a financial manage-
ment firm. He was also a long-
standing and active member of
Temple Beth El. After retiring
in December 1997, he later
became a full-time resident of
Scottsdale.
Mr. Balan is survived by his
wife, Judy Balan; daughter and
son-in-law, Susan and Rabbi
Scott Shpeen of New York; son
and daughter-in-law, Steven
and Rachel Balan of West
Bloomfield; grandchildren,
Hilary and Adam Shpeen,
Andrew, Melissa and Joshua
Balan; sister and brother-in-
law, Jacqueline and Dr. Donald
Bernstein of California; mother-
in-law, Lucille Weil of Arizona.
He was the beloved husband of
the late Saralyn Saperston
Balan.

Farmington Hills, died Oct. 7,
2005. He was a mechanical
engineer for Continental Motors
and Michigan
Dynamics. He
was also a part
time consult-

Beswick
Corporation
and worked
until the age of
Bennett
89. Mr.
Bennett volunteered in the tech-
nical library at Jewish
Vocational Services and was a
past president of Mezericher.
He is survived by his wife,
Rhoda Bennett; sons and
daughters-in-law, Dr. Joel and
Evelyn Bennett of Pennsylvania,
David and Gail Bennett of West
Bloomfield; daughter and son-

MARTIN "MARTY"
BRAGMAN, 92, of Waterford,
died Oct. 7, 2005. He was a fruit
broker in Alpena. After several
years in Michigan, the family
moved to
Miami, Fla. Mr.
Bragman had
several busi-
ness successes
and failures
throughout the
years. Finally,
he retired in
Bragman
Florida, where
he and his wife stayed active
managing condominiums on
Marco Island.
He is survived by his daugh-
