Jeffrey Burstein and

Burstein. He is also the grandchild of
the late Sally and Walter Cohen.
Attending Warner Middle School in
Farmington Hills, where he is an
honor student, Jacob chose to volun-
teer at Friendship Circle, spending
time with children as well as working
in Temple Israel's library and helping
with the sheltering of the homeless,
all as part of his mitzvah projects.
Jonathan Kramer Callan will read from
the Torah as he celebrates his bar mitz-
vah Saturday, Sept. 10, at Havdalah
services at Temple
Israel. His parents
are Deborah and
Thomas Callan and
he is the brother of
Betsy and Reed.
Sharing in the sim-
chah will be his
grandparents
Rowena and
Maurice Sanders,

Dr. Arthur Kramer
and Renee Callan.
He is also the grandchild of the late
Thomas F Callan.
Jonathan is a straight-A student at
Dunckel Middle School in
Farmington Hills. For one of his
mitzvah projects, after earning the
funds, he purchased sports equipment
for needy children.
Samuel Harrison Cohen will be
called to the Torah as a bar mitzvah
Saturday, Sept. 10, at Congregation
Shaarey Zedek West Bloomfield, B'nai
Israel Center. He is the son of Drs.
Susan and Steven Cohen of Franklin
and brother of Jaymie, Noah and
Josh. His proud
grandparents are
Robert and Shirley
Cohen of Solon,
Ohio, and Marilyn
and Dr. Herbert
Mayers of Pepper
Pike, Ohio.
Sam is an honor
student at Berkshire
Cohen
Middle School in
Beverly Hills. For
one of his mitzvah
projects, he organized a fair at his
home and raised enough money to
purchase 60 backpacks for needy chil-
dren in the Detroit area. He also vol-
unteered at Yad Ezra in Berkley, at the
Beth Hayeled day camp and helped
build a sukkah for JARC.
Jaclyn Amy Cole, daughter of Becki
and Steven Cole and sister of Kevin,
Adam, and Daniel, will read from the
Torah as she celebrates her bat mitz-
vah Friday, Sept. 9, at Temple Israel.
Her proud grandparents are Deanna
and Robert Farrah and Laura and
