PAUL SIEGAL, former Detroiter of
Phoenix, Ariz., died Sept. 2, 2005.
He is survived by his loving wife of
62 years, Evelyn Siegal; daughter,
Marcia Franklin; grandchildren, Dylan
and Sue Siegal, Lauren Franklin,
Danny Franklin; great-grandchildren,
Sydney Rosen, Aiden Siegal. He was
the father of the late Kenny Siegal.

HERMAN "HY" J. STEIN, 89, of
Petoskey, formerly of Detroit, died on
Aug. 18, 2005. He was a painter/con-
tractor who worked in the homes of
many well-known Detroiters. In later
years, he was head of the paint and
carpentry department at William
Beaumont Hospital.
Mr. Stein retired in 1981, moving
first to Pellston and later to Petoskey.
He was a past president of the Temple
B'nai Israel Congregation in Petoskey.
He was an amateur painter, a ham
radio operator, a lover of nature and
an ardent conservationist.
Mr. Stein is survived by his beloved
wife of 66 years, Irene; sons and

daughters-in-law, Talbert and Elaine
Stein of Huntington Woods, Roy and
Sheila Stein of Toledo, Ohio, Mickey
Stein and Kathy Flanagan of
Encinitas, Calif.; grandchildren,
Joshua Stein, Jessica and Kurt Shlager,
Julie and Moshe Rothenberg, Karen
and Yaakov Torrano; great- grandchil-
dren, Shmuel and Esther Rothenberg,
Deborah Shlager, Yosef Torrano; sis-
ters, Rose Golden, Elinor Horvath,
and Ida Sanders, all of California.
