ISAAC SARAQUSE, 87, former

Detroiter of Lansing, died Aug. 24,
2005. He was a veteran of World War
II, serving with the U.S. Army. He was
also an accomplished woodworker and
retired from Mather Air Force Base,
Sacramento, Calif
Mr. Saraquse is survived by his loving
wife of 52 years, Florrie; son, Stuart A.
(Lenorre); their daughters, Blayke and
Beren; daughter Gail S. (Robert) Wilkie.
Services at the Palmer, Bush and
Jensen Family Funeral Homes, Delta
Chapel, 6020 W. Saginaw Hwy.,
Lansing. Condolences may be sent to

LEONARD SCHLAFER, 90, of West
Bloomfield, died Aug. 23, 2005.
He is survived by his daughter and
son-in-law, Susan and Morrey Katz of
Farmington Hills; son and daughter-in-
law, Howard and Patti Schlafer of West
Bloomfield; brother, Milton Schlafer of
Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Michael
(Kim) Schatz, Lisa (Richard) Broder,
Ricky (Monica) Schatz, Denise Gordon,
Jill (David) Crisp, Nancy (Brian) Efrusy,
Jodi (Tony) Deardorff, Nancy (Loren)
Zeidman and Steven Katz; great-grand-

children, Avery, Aaron, Alden, Rachel,
Erica, Ryan, Marlee, Mia, Derek, Zack,
Drew, Cyle, Nolan, Jake, Scott, Jodi,
Carly and Blake. He was the beloved
husband of the late Doris Shlafer.
Interment at Machpelah Cemetery.

SALLY SCHREIBER, 82, of Laguna
Woods, Calif., formerly of Detroit, died
Aug. 22, 2005.
She is survived by her daughter, Janice
Schreiber of Laguna Niguel, Calif.;
nieces and nephew,
Rick and Arlene
Selik, Victoria
Schreiber. She was the
beloved wife of the
late George Schreiber.

teacher in the Rochester public school
system, she received her master's in edu-
cation from Columbia University.
Ms. Schwartz is survived by a niece,

and Randall Wokas, Irving and Vivian
Stollman, Arnold and Shirley Silverman,
Susan and Richard Banks; dear friends,

HELEN STEBBINS, 92, of West

Bloomfield, died Aug. 16, 2005. She
was born in Belgium and came to the
United States from England with her
husband, Alfred, in 1967. They were
both sworn in as citizens by former
President Ronald Reagan.
During her years in London, she vol-
unteered for Meals on Wheels and the
Women's Division of
the Free Masons. She
also assisted young
children into air raid
shelters during the
bombing of London
during World War II.
Upon her arrival in
Michigan, she
became involved in
Stebbins
Hadassah, United
Order of True Sisters, Child Rescue,
reading for the blind and Women's
American ORT, where she worked at
the ClothespORT resale shop for over
20 years.

HELEN FREID SILVERMAN, 91, of
West Bloomfield, died Aug. 22, 2005.
She is survived by her daughter, Sheila
Cuscutis of Farmington Hills; son and
daughter-in-law, Dr. David Freid (com-
panion Lilia Cajilog) of Los Angeles;
stepson and daughter-in-law, Philip and
Marie-Adele Silverman of France; sister,
Elaine Bakst of Chula
Vista, Calif.; grand-
children, Nathaniel
and Justin Silverman;
brothers-in-law, Sid
Goldberg and Milton
