JCC To Honor Volunteers

The Jewish Community Center of
Metropolitan Detroit will hold its
annual meeting 7:15 p.m. Wednesday,
June 15, in the Janice Charach Epstein
Gallery in the West
Bloomfield JCC. A
slate of board mem-
bers and officers,
including new presi-
dent Irwin Alterman
of Bloomfield Hills,
will be elected and
members and staff
will be honored.

Fogel
Fogel and Martin
Hollander, both of
West Bloomfield,
and David Goodman
of Farmington Hills
are winners of the
Susan Alterman
Center Leadership
Award. Established
in 1988, the award
was renamed to
Goodman
honor Mrs.
Alterman, an active
member for more
than 25 years. Upon
her death in 1997,
her husband, Irwin,
and son Owen
endowed the award.
Fogel has been an
volunteer participat-
ing in membership
and Book Fair corn-

mittees, the JCC
board and Seminars
for Adult Jewish
Enrichment (SAJE).
She's also a leader in
many community
organizations and at
Adat Shalom
Synagogue.
Goodman has
been a board mem-

ber of the JCC and
Adat Shalom
Synagogue. His focus has been foster-
ing Center-synagogue relationships,
and he promotes community organiza-
tions working together to benefit all.
Hollander was active in Southfield
politics in the 1970s and currently
focuses his attention on Jewish cultur-
al programming. He has served as co-
chair of the Lenore Marwil Jewish
Film Festival, co-chairs the Center's
MusicFest, serves on the JCC board
and its budget committee and is a
Fame Games volunteer.
