Daniel Harrison Weiss, son of Karen
and Steve Weiss, will be called to the
Torah as he celebrates his bar mitzvah
Saturday, June 4, at Temple Israel. He
is the brother of
Mitchell, Bradley
and Eric. Sharing
in the simchah will
be his grandparents
Eunice and Milton
Ring and Marilyn
and Dr. Allen
Weiss. He is the
great-grandson of
the late Anna and
Harry Korman, the late Lillian and
Samuel Weiss, the late Helen and

Daniel attends West Hills Middle
School in Bloomfield Hills. The cen-
terpieces from his luncheon will be
donated to a charity of his choice as
part of his mitzvah experience. He also
volunteered at Yad Ezra in Berkley and
at the computer lab at his school.

Reading Prizes Awarded
Rachel Millman was awarded Temple
Israel's Top Reading Prize May 15
for reading 145 Jewish books as part
of the 2004-2005 first-grade
Reading Star program. She is the
daughter of Scott Millman and Janet
Millman and attends Forest
Elementary School in Farmington
Hills.
Ninety-one Temple Israel first-
graders in West Bloomfield read at
least six Jewish books and completed
at least six Reading Star Forms dur-
ing the 2004-2005 school year. They
each received a certificate and a copy
of the book The Magic of Kol Nidre
by Bruce H. Siegel.
Top first-grade readers were
Bradley Silverman (83 books), Riley
Olson (74 books), Jeremiah Feiner
(69 books), Johanna Feiner (69
books), Annie Sophia Klinger (51
books); Brandon Glasser, Joseph
Warren and Lindsey Eisenshtadt
received special awards for reading
the most books in their class.
Temple Israel second-graders read
at least six Jewish books and com-
pleted at least six book reports to
become members of the 2004-2005
2nd Grade Sifrya Society. Each stu-
dent received a certificate and a copy
of the book The Christmas Menorahs:
How a Town Fought Hate by Janice.
Cohn. Top readers in second grade
were Steven Yellen (91 books), Julia
Fertel (79 books), Rebecca Ellenstein
(70 books), Georgia Dutton (67
books), Drake Lubin (56 books);
Frankie Sadler, Jennifer Glickman,
Samantha Pesick and Logan
Guenther also received special
awards for reading the most books in
their class.
Temple Israel third-graders read at
least five books as part of the Bingo
Bonanza. Each student received a
certificate and a copy of the book
All-of-a-Kind Family by Sydney
Taylor. Top readers were Lauren
Yellen (53 books), Brittany
Silverman (43 books), Mollie Fox
(30 books), Nathan Raine (30
books) and Ashley Ellentuck (25
books).
