Kettering High School in Detroit and
attended Macomb Community
College. He was a decorated Vietnam
veteran of the U.S. Army, having
received the Purple Heart, the Combat
Infantry Badge, the National Defense
Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal.
In 1999, Mr. Penzak retired as head
draftsman for Unocal Corp. He then
continued as a draftsman in his own
studio. Before Unocal, he was a drafts-
man and structural engineer for several
Detroit, California and New Mexico
companies.
A self-taught musician, he played
guitar, was a singer and entertainer of
folk, pop and rock music. He received
the American Guild of Musicians
Award in 1963 and the Starlit
Stairway Award in 1961. He per-
formed on TV, radio and at other ven-
ues. He was also an artist who did
drawings, watercolor, sculpture and
Native American art.
Mr. Penzak is survived by his wife,
Chris Alpern Penzak; daughters and
sons-in-law, Geri and Steve MacPhee,
Donna and Jeff Martin; grandchildren,
Kennedy, Veronica and Olivia; sisters
and brothers-in-law, Lorraine and Tim
Crispo, Delphine and Leonard Hempel,
Joann and Jerry Hempel, Florence and
Joe Saikowski; brother and sister-in-law,
Raymond and Joan Penzak; mother-in-
law and father-in-law, Carol and Arthur
Plotkin; brothers-in-law, James Alpern,
Neil Plotkin; sister-in-law, Leah Plotkin.

Funeral Home in Royal Oak. Interment
with military honors at Oakview

CARL ROSMAN, 91, of Franklin, died
March 24, 2005. He was a lieutenant in
the Navy during World War II and was
stationed in the North Pacific on a
destroyer escort. A pioneer in the com-
mercial and industrial real estate busi-
ness, he was the owner of Carl Rosman
& Co. until it became merged with
Cushman & Wakefield. Mr. Rosman
then became a consultant and finally
retired in 1990.
He had received numerous awards
professionally and personally. He was a
member of the city of Detroit
Planning Commission under Mayor
Cavanaugh, a past president of the
Michigan Chapter of Society of
Industrial Realtors, a member of
Franklin Hills Country Club and a
past member of Temple Beth El:Mr.
Rosman was also a member of
Birmingham Temple and a board
member of Detroit Real Estate Board.
He is survived by his wife, Grace
