The holiday was Purim, but
the evening's theme was
Chinese as the Chabad Jewish
Center of Commerce celebrat-
ed "Purim in Peking." On
March 24, the megillah read-
ing was followed by a Chinese
masquerade and, of course, an
all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet
dinner.
At Congregation Beth
Shalom, members enjoyed a
Purim carnival on March 20,
with plenty of costumes and
refreshments.
And at the Jewish
Community Center in Oak
Park, families in costumes
enjoyed carnival games, clowns
and treats at their celebration
on March 23.
