NIKOLAY V. PLOTNIKOV, 78, of
Royal Oak, died Jan. 21, 2005. A

Ukranian champion runner, he won
many awards and set several records,
including the record in 1954 for the
1,500-meter race. He then became a
trainer and director of a sports club
in the Ukraine. During World War
II, he was a Russian air force pilot
and flew the American plane
Catalina, a hydroplane, in the Japan
theatre.
Mr. Plotnikov is survived by his
wife, Ita Dolinskaya of Royal Oak;
daughter, Tatyana Plotnikova; grand-
son, Igor; sister, Galina.
Interment at Hebrew Memorial
Park Cemetery. Contributions may
be made to the charity of one's
choice. Arrangements by Ira

NAT RAPHAN, 83, of Delray

Beach, Fla., died Jan. 19, 2005. He
was a general contractor in the com-
mercial building business.
