A Ukranian champion runner, he won many awards and set several records, including the record in 1954 for the 1,500-meter race. He then became a trainer and director of a sports club in the Ukraine. During World War II, he was a Russian air force pilot and flew the American plane Catalina, a hydroplane, in the Japan theatre. Mr. Plotnikov is survived by his wife, Ita Dolinskaya of Royal Oak; daughter, Tatyana Plotnikova; grand- son, Igor; sister, Galina. Interment at Hebrew Memorial Park Cemetery.
