Chuppah Honors
Victim Of Terror

5

L

ating class of Hillel Dav School of
Metropolitan Detroit.
Designed by American Judaica artist
Fred Spinowitz, the chuppah can be
rented and shipped directly for a tax-
deductible donation of $5,000.
Proceeds support the Naava
Applebaum Sherut Leumi National
Service Program, and provide much
needed funding for the young women
who are an integral part of Shaare
Zedek Medical Center.
The velvet chuppah is embroidered
and hand-painted, containing four
phrases from Song of Songs by King
Solomon. Each of these phrases was
selected because it contains the word
"Naava," the Hebrew for "pleasant" or
"beautiful."
To obtain rental information on the
chuppah and learn more about the
Naava Applebaum Circle of Life
Endowment Fund, contact Stephen
Schechter at (212) 999-5585 or call

father, Dr. David Applebaum, direc-
tor of emergency medicine at Shaare
Zedek Medical Center, Jerusalem,
were killed at a local cafe near the
hospital.
The Naava Chuppah (wedding
canopy) memorializes the untimely
loss of a young woman who exempli-
fied compassion and care for those
most in need. Naava had just corn-
pleted her second year of Israel's
national service where she tended to
pediatric oncology patients.
The Women's Division of Shaare
Zedek Medical Center, Jerusalem,
commissioned the Naava Chuppah to
honor her memory.
