Kevin Robert Shapiro will celebrate
his bar mitzvah during Havdalah serv-
ices Saturday, Oct. 16, at Temple
Israel. He is the son of Nancy and Jack
Shapiro and the brother of Vicki and
Lori. His excited grandparents are
Dorothy and Bernie Soffin. He is also
the grandson of the
late Sandor Shapiro
and the late Lila
and Louis Disner.
Kevin is an honor
student at Orchard
Lake Middle School
in West Bloomfield.
For his mitzvah
projects, he chose •
to volunteer at
Temple Israel's Labor Day picnic and
he collected cans of food for Yad Ezra
in Berkley.

Laura Anne Sillman will celebrate her
bat mitzvah Friday, Oct. 15, at Temple
Israel. Her parents are Susie and David
Sillman and her brother is Danny. She
is the grandchild of Ruth and Louis
Stober and Maurine Sillman. She is
also the grandchild of the late Herb
Sillman and the
great-grandchild of
the late Hilda
Shapiro.
Attending Derby
Middle School in
Birmingham, Laura
and a friend chose
to collect crafts, art
supplies, candy and
other items from local merchants to
benefit Camp-Mak-A-Dream as a
mitzvah project.

Yad Ezra in Berkley and helped serve
food to the homeless. She also donated
funds to JARC and Yad Ezra.

Michael Stillman,

great-granddaugh-
ter of Ida Lewis and Beatrice Stillman.
Karly is an honor student at West
Hills Middle School in Bloomfield
Hills. Her mitzvah projects included
preparing and delivering lunches to
homeless people and donating over 10
inches of her hair to Locks of Love.
