Fame Games Bring Glory

PHOTOS BY BRETT MOUNTAIN

T

he 18th annual West Bloomfield
Community Fame Games Oct. 10 had
its fair share of guts and glory as chil-
dren and adults with special nee& showcased
their abilities in such events as track and field
and swimming.
All did their personal best; you could see it in
their faces and feel it in the excitement from
those gathered to cheer on the athletes.
Inclusion and community were key elements
of the event that draws more than 120 athletes
from Oakland, Macomb and Wayne counties to
the Jewish Community Center in West

Bloomfield each year.
More than 150 volunteers helped facilitate
the games. They came from Northwest Child
Rescue Women, B'nai B'rith Youth
Organization, Jewish Academy of Metropolitan
Detroit, area synagogues and churches, West
Bloomfield High School and the JCC.
A gala awards ceremony for all adults was
held that evening.
Primary sponsor of the games is Michigan
Jewish Sports Foundation.
