THE IRA KAUFMAN CHAPEL

A member of Congregation Shir Tikvah
has organized a conference for women
focusing on "Recognizing Options for
Self Enhancement" (ROSE). All pro-
ceeds will benefit the American Red
Cross.
The event will take place on Tuesday,
Oct. 26, at the Bloomfield Township
Library, Lone Pine and Telegraph roads.
"ROSE will be an event that will
remind all women of how fortunate we
are in America: to be able to discuss and
debate all kinds of
issues and to create
change for ourselves
and for others," said
Shir Tikvah member
Karen Melaas of
Oxford.
Since August, she
said, national attention
has focused on Florida,
Melaas
a whirlwind for some
luckier residents and
an utter devastation for too many others.
"Now the American Red Cross,
already stretched thinner than a runway
model, needs our help in order to be of
help," she said.
Volunteer speakers include:
• Nancy A. Levin, a Bloomfield Hills
psychologist who will discuss the impor-
tance of clear, effective communication
with one's significant other, family,
friends and self. She is a specialist in
IMAGO relationship therapy.
• Gloria Nixon-John of Oxford, who
has been a local educator for 30 years.
She will discuss the value of writing a
personal memoir.
• Julie Richmond, a marathon runner
and exercise enthusiast, along with
Maggie Barclay, a certified aerobics
instructor and personal trainer, will share
proven ideas about proper nutrition and
healthful exercise for every kind of
woman.

A continental breakfast begins at
8:45 in the Harcourt Green Room of
the library. Speakers run from 9
a.m.-noon. Registration is $10, but
donations are welcomed.
Indicate names of attendees by
Oct. 25. Make checks payable to:
