The Jewish Federation of Metropolitan
Detroit will hold its fourth annual
Women's Day of Learning 1-4:45 p.m.
Sunday, Oct. 24, at Yeshivat Akiva,
21100 W. 12 Mile, Southfield.
Tided "The Best of
Times, the Worst of
Times," the program will
bring together Jewish
women from the metro
Detroit community for a
day of study and cama-
raderie.
Lipstadt
Keynote speaker for the
Arlene Victor Memorial
Lecture will be Dr. Deborah E. Lipstadt,
professor of modern Jewish and
Holocaust studies at Emory University
in Atlanta and author of Denying the
Holocaust: The Growing Assault on Ti-uth
and Memory
Following the lecture, participants will
have the opportunity to study with local
women rabbis and scholars who will
facilitate workshops in two break-out
sessions to be held at 2:30 and at 3:35

world to Super Bowl XL in 2006. Susan
Sherer, executive director of the Detroit
Super Bowl XL Host Committee, will
discuss the city's bid and
plans for the big game at
the next Federation
Forum, noon-1:30 p.m.
Monday, Oct. 18, at the
Townsend Hotel in
Birmingham.
A 20-year veteran of the

hospitality business, Sherer
has held numerous leader-
ship positions in operations, sales and
marketing with Hyatt, Westin and
Omni Hotels. She and her team act as
the official liaison between the National
Football League and Detroit's hospitality,
government and corporate stakeholders.
