Bombing Evidence Found
Key evidence in the
Buenos Aires/JTA
1994 bombing of the ANITA Jewish cen-
ter in Argentina was recovered.
Argentine President Nestor Kirchner
told Argentine and U.S. Jewish leaders
Monday that 45 tapes of telephone con-
versations involving Carlos Telleldin, a
car mechanic accused in the case, have
been recovered.
Telleldin is accused of providing the
van used to carry out the attack. The
meeting came a day after the 10th
anniversary of the July 18, 1994, bomb-
ing, which left 85 people dead and 300

Camp Hires Arab
A Reform movement
New York/JTA
summer camp hired what it said was the
first Israeli Arab counselor to staff a
North American Jewish camp.
Rula Faran, 23, a Christian Arab and
student in Jerusalem, was hired to teach
art at the movement's Greene Family
Camp near Waco, Texas. "The integra-
tion of an Arab student has tremendous
educational value — it exposes Israeli
reality to American Jewish youth
through a real individual's personal nar-
rative," said Yehuda Bar Shalom, head of
the education department at Jerusalem's
David Yellin College, where Faran is a
student.

THE ISSUE
While the U.N. General Assembly this
month debates the International Court of
Justice's ruling on Israel's security barrier,
it is clear from even a cursory look that
the court decision is destructive rather
than constructive.
BEHIND THE ISSUE
The court's decision gave minimal
attention to Israeli security, the key ele-
ment for Israel to return to the negoti-
ating table. The decision was biased,
non-binding and unnecessary, as Israel's
democratic courts have been ruling on
the barrier with the Israeli military
reacting accordingly to those rulings.
Israel does not need permission to -
defend its citizens.
