Tamarack Hosts Israelis
Sunday, July 11, has been designated
"A Day of Kosher Awareness."
Chabad-Lubavitch of Metro Detroit
and Hiller's Markets will host a dis-
play, video, cookbook raffle, kosher
treats, prizes for kids and information
for adults between 10:30 a.m. and 5
P.m. at the Hiller's West Bloomfield
store at 6433 Orchard Lake Road (at
Maple).

The Jewish Federation of Metropolitan
Detroit will welcome 104 teens from
Israel for the third Israeli Camper
Program at Tamarack Camps' Camp
Maas in Ortonville.
The program offers a cultural
exchange and a means of connecting
metro Detroit teens with campers
from Israel.
Campers and madrichim (coun-
selors) range in age from 13 to 17 and
•include teens from Detroit's
Partnership 2000 region in the Central
Galilee, the Israeli Scouts and the
Horodock Society. The group will
attend the camp's second session from
July 18 through Aug. 6. The Israeli
teens will be hosted by local families
July 16-18 and Aug. 6-8.
The Israeli Camper Program is
funded by Federation's 2004 Annual
Campaign and individuals.
Bob Schostak and Darren Findling
are coordinating the program and a
Sponsor-a-Camper fund-raising effort.

Under-40 Women Sought
The Jewish Women's Foundation of
Metropolitan Detroit, a grant-making
and educational foundation established
to enhance the lives of Jewish women
and girls through philanthropy, offers.
a new commitment level offering
women younger than 40 a wider
opportunity for involvement as
trustees.
•Targeting a younger audience, an
informational meeting will be held 10
a.m. Wednesday; July 14, at a private
home. Beverly Liss, foundation chair,
and Joyce Keller, executive director of
JARC, will be featured speakers. JARC
recently received an $8,000 grant from
the foundation for its program, "We
Are Women."
At the new membership level,
women can opt to become full trustees
for $5,000 payable over five years and
renewableat the same rate until age
40. This new level represents half the
minimum financial commitment
required of the foundation's trustees to
date.
