Harold Berry, a businessman and leader
in the Detroit and Florida Jewish com-
munities, has been named an honorary
vice president of the American Friends
of the Hebrew University (AFHU).
Berry is an active supporter of Hebrew
University and is responsible for leading
AFHU's campaign activities in the
Detroit area.
A member of the
board of governors of
Hebrew University
and AFHU's National
Board of Directors
and Council of
Trustees, Berry
received an honorary
fellowship from the
Hebrew University at
Berry
its annual convoca-
tion ceremony in
Jerusalem last year.
He and his wife, Barbara, who sup-
port the university through scholarships
for undergraduates at the Cohodas
Student Center and the Avraham
Harman Fund, were awarded AFHU's
highest honor, the Scopus Award.

JWI Event Slated

"Chopped Liver with Schmaltz," the
culminating fund-raising event spon-
sored by Jewish Women International of
Metro Detroit Council, will be held
11:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 16, at Adat
Shalom Synagogue.
The luncheon charge is $25; the event
is open. to donors of $100 or more for
the fund-raising year July 2003-2004.
Funds raised by JWI go to support the
Residential Treatment Center (RTC) in
Jerusalem, a leader in long-term residen-
alca re for severely disturbed boys and
atiirls.
Featured entertainment will be
Schmaltz, a local Klezmer band.
Greetings from Washington will be
given by Sandy Unger, newly installed
international president of JWI.
