Joints are an integral part of keeping our bodies

in motion. But when a joint causes pain, everything

suffers...participating in sports, carrying in the
groceries, even simply walking. Sinai-Grace Hospital

Joint Replacement Center was designed to ease
suffering from joint pain and help get patients back
to a normal daily routine.

Joint replacement is an orthopaedic success story,
enabling hundreds of thousands of people to live

fuller, more active lives. Using metal alloys, high-grade

plastics and polymeric materials, our orthopaedic
surgical team can replace a painful, dysfunctional

joint with a highly functional, long-lasting prosthesis.
Over the past half-century, there have been many
advances in the design, construction and implantation

of artificial hip joints, resulting in a high percentage
of successful long-term outcomes.

Sinai-Grace Hospital is dedicated to providing quality

surgical care to patients requiring joint replacement
surgery and offers the most technologically advanced

facility in a relaxing and supportive atmosphere. Our
Medical Director, Dr. William Higginbotham is a board-

sa"

certified orthopaedic surgeon with more than 20 years
of experience. He was recently named one of Metro

cabin assignments.
The first night, the kids were talking
and going crazy all night, so I consid-
ered the three hours of sleep I received a
blessing. After breakfast, we went to our
cabin activity, the climbing wall. This
was what the kids were looking forward
to, and you could see how much it
meant to them as they each took their
turns climbing the wall.
The afternoon was filled with bad
weather, and I was extremely surprised
to see the spirits of everyone still soaring
high.
The night activity was a trip to the
Pioneer Village. I was in disbelief that
the kids running around did not break
anything and no one was hurt. My role
was that of the Indian chief who, after
the kids did a task for me, would give
them their water rights.
Being the Indian, I was the subject of
numerous jokes. These kids, from
southwest Detroit, were no different
from kids anywhere in Michigan.
Overall, I thought the weekend was a
huge success. Besides giving the kids a
break from their daily lives, it gave me
an opportunity to see into the lives of
kids that, under normal circumstances,
I would not have the chance to interact
and spend time with. I highly recom-
mend this trip to anyone wishing to
have a great time with kids who live an
extremely difficult life. n

U.S. and European pressure on
Yasser Arafat to get him to crack
down on terrorists has, so far, been
unsuccessful. Arafat blames Israel
for his loss of control over the terri-
tories, the weakening of his security
services and the growing popularity
of Harnas and other terrorist
groups. Yet there may be external
factors contributing to his inaction.

In addition to suspicions that
Arafat actually supports the terror
campaign, the recent Syrian and
Iranian resistance to U.S. pressure
and the ongoing U.S. troubles in
Iraq may be strengthening Arafat's
resistance to U.S. and other pres-
sures to fight terror and make
reforms.
