isa Ginsburg calls 4-month-old Shelby
her "miracle baby.
Lisa and her husband, Mitch, had
been married for four years. The past
two years had been filled with visits to doctors
and fertility specialists as the Commerce
Township couple struggled to conceive a child.
Finally, they found the right combinations of
drugs and procedures ā€” and the right doctors,
Dr. Elizabeth. Puscheck at Wayne State
University's Division of Reproductive Endocrine
and Infertility in Detroit and gynecologist Dr.
Annette Greenstein, whose office is on Southfield
Road in Beverly Hills.
Shelby Faith Ginsburg made her entrance into

grandma, Eva Shpargel of West Bloomfield. "The
next youngest child on my husband's side is 18
years older," says Lisa, 32.
A graduate of Michigan State University with a
master's degree from the University of Miami, .
Lisa grew up in Southfield's Beacon Square subdi-
vision. Her husband grew up in the nearby
Kingsley Square. But they never met. Mitch, now
an integrated systems specialist at Guardian
Alarm Co., is 13 years older.
It took Mitch's mother, Barbara Ginsburg, and

Pearl Forman, a friend of Lisa's family, to get the
two together ā€” through a bit of matchmaking
that took place over the manicure table at
Southfield's Salon 77.
Lisa said her parents, Harriet and Michael
Kovacs of Southfield, have not always been
thrilled to jump into their car and drive out to
the farthest reaches of Commerce Township to
visit her. But the baby makes all the difference.
"It's their first grandchild, and they've waited a
long time," says the proud mother.
