Ask The Orthodontist

Orthodontics is More Than Straightening Teeth

Building self-esteem, confidence, creating a fun environ-
ment, contributing and being active in the community and
educating patients in regards to their orthodontics is inte-
gral in being an orthodontist in the community. An. ortho-
dontist should be someone who cares about the communi-
ty, gets involved with the community and kids and truly
cares about these issues.

Straightening an individual's teeth is important, as

look better and the teeth are healthier. Adolescence is
an especially impressionable time for kids and we can contribute to making
them feel more secure and self-confident. My philosophy is that every time an
adolescent is at my office, we try to show an interest in their lives and show that
we truly care.

Where the
personal
touch counts

Orthodontics is a rewarding career as we become involved in making people's
lives better. I personally live in the immediate area and have become involved
with the kids through baseball leagues, school functions, dance studios and lis-
tening to the kids when they talk to me at the office. Even the office is designed
with kids' interests in mind.

The school districts adjacent to my office knowl can be counted on for whatev-
er can assist them. Working closely with schools to help educate our kids, sup-
port their functions and teach or give science presentations, reflects a value in
education, which is best demonstrated by example. Teachers have a major influ-
ence on our children's lives and what professionals can do to assist them is not
only a responsibility, but also a pleasure. Watching a kid grow up healthy and
well-rounded, and being a part of their lives is a responsibility and going that
extra mile leaves everyone a little more fulfilled.
