Michal and Jonathan Firsht and sister
of Sharone and Daniel. Proud grand-
parents are Dr. Isaac and Miriam Barr
and Morton and Arlene Firsht.
Elana is an honor student at West
Hills Middle School in Bloomfield
Hills. Her most memorable mitzvah
project was traveling to Israel and
spending time with Bosmat
Nechmad, 12, a terrorist-attack vic-
tim. She also volunteered at Shaarey
Zedek's Camp Betman.

Alexandra Rachel Hartman will cele-
brate her bat mitzvah Friday, Feb. 6,
at Temple Israel. She is the daughter
of Andrea and Dr. Michael Hartman
and sister of Emily. Her grandparents
are Nancy and Richard Hartman and
Rosalie and Nelson
Greer.
A student at
Bloomfield Hills
Middle School,
Alexandra worked with
Farmington Hills-based
JARC at its monthly
bingo games, at the Chanukah party
and at Temple Israel's Labor Day pic-
nic. She also donated her babysitting
money to JARC.

Nicole Ann Hertzberg will celebrate
her bat mitzvah when she is called to
the Torah at Temple Israel Saturday,
Feb. 7. She is the daughter of Simha
and Dr. Neil Hertzberg and sister of
Steven. Sharing in the simchah will be
her grandparents Rose and Joseph
Hertzberg and Haviva and Eli Malka
of Haifa, Israel. She is also the loving
grandchild of the late
Phyllis Hertzberg.
Nicole is an honor
student in the seventh
grade at Orchard Lake
Middle School in West
Bloomfield. Her mitz-
vah projects included
volunteering at Yad
Ezra in Berkley, helping at the Denby
Halloween Shelter in Detroit. Also
she has been volunteering by helping
the senior residents at the Fleischman
Residence in West Bloomfield.

Evan Daniel Hughes, son of Jodi and
Paul Schaefer and John Hughes, will
read from the Torah as he celebrates
his bar mitzvah Saturday, Feb. 7, at
Temple Israel. He is the brother of
Jacob, Matthew, Dylan and Bebe. His
grandparents are Shirley and Maurice
Neeman and Jane Hughes. He is also
the grandchild of the late Jack •
