accabi Detroit has been invit-
ed to participatein the
Maccabi Great Britain Youth
Games, Aug. 1-6, 2004.The team
will be in Britain a few days prior to
the games, enjoying home hospitali-
ty with British Jewish families. Some
300 participants, ages 13-15, are
expected from Great Britain, Israel,
Europe and America.
The games will include sports com-
petitions, social and educational
Jewish programs with a strong Israel
focus. Sports will include soccer, bas-
ketball, netball, tennis, table tennis
and many sports clinics.
Unlike the JCC Maccabi Games in
the U.S., competitions are reduced to
a "fun" level and participants will try a
wide range of sports.
Maccabi Detroit will host an infor-
mation meeting 4:30 p.m. Sunday,
Nov. 30, at the Jewish Community
Center in West Bloomfield.
