The Program' is a drive for constant
improvement," Greenwald said. "This
is as much about implementing actual
change as it is about a positive attitude
toward learning from dates and rela-
tionships that didn't work out."
Some readers may bristle at some of
Greenwald's manipulative strategies or
her stereotypical view of men and
women. For example, according to her,
women like to take cooking classes and
men study home repair.
There's also a scary undercurrent to
"The Program," and that is what is
implied by the use of the marketing
terms: the notion that women are the
"products" and men are the "buyers."
"My experience is that when it comes
to buying a 'big-ticket item' ( in this
case, a wife), men are not impulse
shoppers," Greenwald writes.
Still, if you can get past her stereotyp-
ing, Greenwald comes across like a good
friend who understands the plight of
husband-seekers older than 35, and more
importantly, she has formulated an inno-
vative plan to accomplish that goal. ❑
