OBITUARIES

Q : I recently attended a graveside service at

Hebrew Memorial Park, and while placing
dirt into the earth, I observed there was no
vault. I thought state law made it mandatory.
Is there any law making a vault a requirement?

A:

There are no laws making vaults
mandatory. Each cemetery has rules and
regulations that mandate their own cemetery.
For example, a vault is not allowed at
Hebrew Memorial but is a requirement
at Beth El Memorial Park.
