Jordan Leon Bachar was called to
the Torah as a bar mitzvah on
Saturday, April 5, at Adat Shalom
Synagogue. He is the son of Alisa
Kaufman and Ron
Bachar. Jordan's
sister Sivan Rose
read Ein
Keloheinu. Jordan
is the grandchild
of Dr. Benjamin
and Estelle
Kaufman of Flint
and Rivka Bahar
of Kiryat Motzkin,
Israel, and the late Ezra Bahar.
Jordan is an honor student at
Sarah Banks Middle School in
Wixom, where he was on the junior
varsity seventh-grade football team.
He plays trombone in the school
band and likes snowboarding and
wakeboarding. As part of his mitz-
vah volunteer work, Jordan made
and delivered packages on Purim to
JARC homes. He also donated to
the Tzedakah Project at Temple Beth
El. In addition, the centerpieces
from his celebration were gift bags
of toys that Jordan and his family
donated to local children's charities.
Elyse Danielle Cantor will be called
to the Torah on the occasion of her
bat mitzvah on
Saturday, April 26,
at Congregation
Shaarey Zedek
Southfield. She is
the daughter of
Judy and Scott
Cantor and sister
of Blake. Elyse is
the granddaughter
of Libby and Leo
Sklar, Estelle and David Robinson
and the late Edward Cantor.
Elyse attends Cranbrook
Kingswood Middle School in
Bloomfield Hills, where she enjoys
English and drama. Among her
many interests are competition
dance, singing, reading and spend-
ing her summers at Camp Tanuga in
Kalkaska. Elyse's favorite mitzvah
project was helping children during
services at Congregation Shaarey
Zedek West Bloomfield, B'nai Israel
Center.
Jacob Bradley Friedman will be
called to the Torah as a bar mitzvah
on Saturday, April 26, at Adat
Shalom Synagogue. Participating in
the ceremony will
be his proud par-
ents, Pam and
Michael Friedman,
and brothers
Zachary and
David. Jake will
be honored to
have his grandpar-
ents Jeanette
Solway of West Bloomfield and
Pearl and Erno Friedman of
Southfield sharing in his simchah.
He is also the grandson of the late
Franklin Solway.
Jake is an honor student at Hillel
Day School of Metropolitan Detroit
in Farmington Hills. He enjoys trav-
el ice hockey, in-line skating, tennis
and summers at Camp Walden in
Cheboygan. He volunteered with
the American Red Magen David for
Israel, selling bears and blankets; at
Yad Ezra in Berkley, packing food;
and at the Dor L'Dor and JARC
programs and Hillel.
Scott David Goldstein will be called
to the Torah as a bar mitzvah
Saturday, April 26, at Temple Israel.
He is the son of
Drs. Marcie and
Kevin Goldstein
and the brother of
Alana. Scott's
proud grandpar-
ents are Sandy and
Arnie Oleinick,
Renee and Walter
Von Gizycki. He
is also the grand-
son of the late Jerome Goldstein.
Scott is an honor student at
Walled Lake Middle School, where
he plays the saxophone in the school
band. His interests include the elec-
tric guitar, tennis and soccer. His
most meaningful mitzvah project
was donating a variety of items,
including computer software, to
Bagley School in Detroit so the chil-
dren could use it with their new
computers. He also delivered Purim
parcels to seniors.
Ian Matthew Lefkowitz will become
a bar mitzvah on Saturday, April 26,
at Congregation Beth Shalom. He is
the son of Marcy
and Jay Lefkowitz
and brother of
Jack and Zoe. His
grandparents are
Lois and Milton
Zussman and
Ruth and Julian
Lefkowitz.
